Dean Dhillon will speak at Finance Society tomorrow about advice for the current job market. There will also be a short information session about the upcoming M&A Case Competition following the presentation.

The NYC Trip will include a tour of the AMEX Trading Floor in the afternoon, as well as an optional Beginners Trading Seminar for Options with OIC in the evening. The trip will be October 28th, Tuesday, and will take the entire day. Both events are free, but transportation and dinner is the responsibility of the student. Sign-ups are required!

We will be using Wall Street Survivor. It’s very easy to use and has some great prizes. It requires you to make 20 trades by November 30th in order to receive the prizes. Make sure you do this!
WallStreetSurvivor.com is:
1. U.S. stocks only with real-time bid/ask fills
2. The profit and loss pages are streaming, so you don’t need to wait until end of day settlement to review values and rankings
3. The accounts all will start with $100,000 have a 25% position limit, minimum purchase price is $.25, and you can read the other rules online.
4. Perpetual trading, so students can start trading as soon as they register and they will have the account for as long as they want.

The Fall ‘08 General Interest Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 4th at 6pm in AAG 07 (tentative location). There will also be an additional GIM on Thursday, September 11th at 6pm in the SOM Lounge.

The Finance Society is organizing our first Stock Pitch Competition.
This will be an intensive weekend long competition that will start on
April 23rd and end on April 26th. This will include a workshop on How
to Do a Stock Pitch, so no finance experience is necessary, but an
interest in stocks is preferable.
